Safety Specialist
Safety Specialist focuses on health and safety issues, such as preventing workplace accidents. Safety Specialist also responds when workplace accidents happen, creating reports and determining ways to prevent similar accidents.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Help plan health and safety programs & protocols
· Present safety training sessions to the company
· Ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations
· Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues
· Verifying that team members consistently follow safety protocols
· Analyzing health and safety data
· Reviewing and recommending changes to regular job duties
· Daily monitoring of building and grounds
· Other Duties will be assigned
Skills and Qualifications
· Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations
· Familiarity with the tools, machines, and equipment used in the workplace
· Attention to detail
· Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to teach others the established safety standards
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry
· Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people
Experience and Education
· High-School Diploma, (Degree in Occupational Health Safety-preferred)
· Experience working in manufacturing
· OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification/Preferred
· Work rotating shifts and schedules
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, ability to sit for extended periods of time
